Joel Elconin – Markets Ending Q2 In A Worrisome Way

Cory
June 30, 2024

Joel Elconin, Co-Host of the Benzinga PreMarket Prep Show and Editor of PreMarket Prep join us to discuss the current state of the S&P 500 after hitting new all-time highs. Despite a 4% gain this month, momentum has flatlined, indicating potential market trepidation. Joel provides both a technical and fundamental outlook, expressing a cautious stance and discussing the implications of market resets post-quarterly expirations.

We also look at various sectors, from energy to retail, touching on the effects of inflation, complacency in the market, and the narrower breadth of the rally. We also explore potential defensive plays for investors amidst low volumes and the approaching end of the first half of the year.

Joel referenced the song “The End” by The Doors in that interview and we even sang the line together briefly.
